Website Layout

Website Layout is broadly defined as designing the homepage associated with your website. You can control your navigation menu, the graphics of your banner, the content in your 4 buttons, two “Facebook” boxes, and choose which icons you want displayed in your “Make a Difference” widget.

General

You can control almost all of the design of your homepage from the Appearance –> Menu page, and the Settings page, both of which are found on the left hand side control panel.

Adding New Link

To add a new menu item, select from the Custom Links, Pages or Categories box on the left hand side of the page.

Custom Links

For the Custom Links box, simply define the URL you want to link, and name it appropriately in the Label section. Click add new.

Pages

For the Pages box, simply select any number of the Pages by checking the boxes. After you have made your selections click add new. Your selections will appear in the center box. Each menu item will appear in a distinct box. The order they appear, from top to bottom, will be the same order, left to right, that they appear on your page. You will notice that some of the boxes are tabbed. This denotes the grouping of menu items. Each tab represents a distinct generation, where each tabbed item will generate under the parent menu item.

Categories

You can also add menu items from the Categories. This is especially important for organize your posts. Do do this select the appropriate items from the Categories box and click add new.

Saving and Defining Menus

At the top of the Appearance -> Menu page you will notice a Theme Locations box, and a header with tabs. In the header at the top of the main box you can create and save new menus. First click on the tab with the “+”  sign. This will create a new blank menu.  Insert a new menu name, and select the primary language of the Pages appearing. If this menu is a translation, select the menu it is translating in the Translation of drop down.

After you have created your new menu, and added the Pages, Custom Link and Categories to your Menu click Save Menu. If you want to change the names, or links of any of the existing menu items, click on the drop down arrow at the top right hand side of each box.

Finally, you have to select which menu will appear on your website. You do this by selecting the menu you would like to see on the website in the Theme Locations box. Select your menu and click Save Menu.
